Mṛṇālamaṇi | मृणालमणि

Mṛṇāla (मृणाल) — lotus stalk / the hollow edible stem of the lotus plant, known as kamal kakdi | Maṇi (मणि) — jewel / precious stone | Pronounced: mrih-NAA-la-ma-nee

A handcrafted brass-alloy demi-fine cocktail ring — a large oval open-disc face in hammered reticulated gold, its surface cut with organic oval channels radiating from a central spine in the form of a dried lotus stem cross-section (kamal kakdi), with round faceted pink-lilac zircon stones set within the channels — in 22k Gold Plated. Adjustable open-back band.

The Design

Mṛṇālamaṇi — meaning “Lotus Stem Jewel” — takes its form directly from the cross-section of a kamal kakdi: the dried lotus stem, sliced open, reveals a pattern of organic oval air channels radiating from a central spine — irregular, asymmetric, naturally distributed, unlike any geometric lattice that could be designed by hand. This is what the ring face reproduces in gold: six to eight oval openings of varying size cut through a large oval disc, their arrangement following the natural logic of the plant rather than any imposed symmetry. The remaining gold surface is heavily hammered and reticulated — a molten, textured field that catches light differently at every angle, as if the gold itself were still in the process of cooling.

Into the channels and across the hammered surface, small round faceted zircon stones are set in pink-lilac — a cool, pale purple that reads as both delicate and precise against the warm gold. The stones are scattered rather than aligned, following the organic topography of the disc rather than any grid, which reinforces the natural, found-object quality of the piece. On the finger the ring is a statement: broad, flat, and fully architectural — a piece that references the plant world through direct material translation rather than stylised ornament.

Craft & Material

Handcrafted entirely in India by highly skilled karigars, Mṛṇālamaṇi is made in high-quality brass alloyanti-allergic and skin-friendly — and finished in 22k Gold Plated as photographed, or your choice of 925 Silver Plated, Rose Gold Plated, or Black Rhodium Plated. Each plated finish is sealed with a protective e-coating for tarnish and wear resistance. The open-disc face is individually cast and hand-hammered; each zircon is individually set. No two pieces are mechanically identical — natural minor variations in hammer texture, channel form, and stone placement are inherent to handmade production and are not defects.

Why It Sells

The kamal kakdi / lotus stem cross-section is an exceptional design source — it produces an openwork pattern that is instantly distinguishable from conventional jali or geometric lattice, carrying genuine botanical provenance that resonates strongly in artisan, nature, and craft jewellery categories globally. The hammered reticulated surface places this ring firmly in the contemporary artisan fine-adjacent space — the texture reads as handmade luxury rather than mass production. Zircon in pink-lilac is a commercially strong stone choice at this price tier: it delivers the visual register of amethyst or pink sapphire at a fraction of the cost, photographs beautifully against gold, and has broad appeal across bridal, gifting, and everyday fine-adjacent segments. The large oval disc format makes this a true statement cocktail ring — a hero SKU that anchors any wholesale display. Four finish options allow a single design to serve multiple consumer segments and price points.
