The Design

Padmavarṣā — meaning “a shower of lotus” — is a chandelier drop earring built around one of the most iconic motifs in Indian jewellery: the lotus in full bloom. The frame is a large open-cut gold lotus flower in flat filigree — petals spread wide and symmetrically outward, each petal edge precisely defined, the overall silhouette immediately recognisable as the sacred lotus of Indian ornamental tradition. At the very centre of the lotus, a small round green onyx cabochon sits in a plain bezel — its deep forest green the colour of lotus leaves, grounding the warm gold of the frame with a cool botanical note.
