The Design

Butaratna — meaning “Paisley Jewel” — opens with a single square garnet, set on-point in a diamond orientation within a slim gold bezel. The stone is deep wine-red, faceted, and opaque at its core — the kind of red that reads as rich and serious rather than bright or sweet. From the base of the bezel, three individually cast gold forms fan downward: two paisley drops — the classic teardrop-with-curl, their surfaces deeply ribbed in a fine parallel texture — flanking a single plain ribbed leaf at the centre, its midrib running cleanly from tip to base. The three forms hang freely from a shared connection point, swinging independently with the movement of the wearer.

The earring hangs on a shepherd’s hook wire — simple, undecorated, the gold wire keeping all visual weight in the drop below. The overall silhouette is broad at the base and pointed at the top: a downward fan that fills the jaw-to-shoulder zone with warmth and movement. Against the terracotta silk of the editorial photograph, the deep garnet and warm 22k Gold Plated read as a complete tonal story — this is an earring that was made for autumn fabrics, candlelight, and close attention.
