The Design

Candraśuktī — meaning “Moon & Pearl Shell” — is built in tiers, each one a distinct motif that reads individually and as a whole. The stud is a textured gold conch form — the śaṅkha, sacred in Indian tradition, here rendered in miniature as the anchor of the ear. Below it hangs a small crescent moon connector, a quiet lunar bridge between the stud above and the medallion below. Then the centrepiece: a large fan-shaped medallion in deep repousé, its surface worked into bold fluted ribs radiating outward in the manner of classical South Indian temple goldsmithing. The medallion is substantial — it fills the earlobe-to-jaw length with presence.

From the base of the medallion, a small gold heart charm anchors three freshwater pearl drops — one longer at the centre, two shorter at the sides — each pearl a soft ivory-white, oval, and gently luminous against the warm antique gold. The drops move with the wearer, catching light with each turn of the head. Candraśuktī is a bridal and festive weight earring that photographs beautifully and holds its own against embroidered fabrics, draped silk, and bare skin alike.
