The Design

Kalavallī — meaning “the ornamental vine” — takes its name from its centrepiece: a large flat-cut arabesque chandelier frame in the form of a scrolling vine composition, its silhouette a fusion of fleur-de-lis and organic Indian scrollwork — a central tulip-flame motif rising at the top, two lateral wings curling outward in open arabesques, and three drop loops descending from the base in a symmetrical arrangement. The frame is cut flat and finished in a matte brushed silver, its surface catching light softly and without reflection, giving the piece an understated luxury quality that distinguishes it immediately from polished metalwork.

From the two lateral loops, small grey moonstone flat teardrop briolettes hang freely — their grey-taupe surface carrying the characteristic blue adularescence of fine moonstone, shifting subtly with movement and light. From the central loop, a large amethyst faceted teardrop briolette commands the composition — deep violet-purple, translucent, its faceted surface refracting light into a continuous play of cool purple tones that animate the lower half of the earring. The three drops move independently with the wearer, creating a constant gentle swing.
