The Design

Raktaprabhā — meaning “the crimson radiance” — is a four-part long drop earring built in the tradition of the Indian temple jewellery aesthetic: layered, symmetrical, stone-rich, and constructed around the deep red of ruby as its governing colour. The piece descends in four distinct elements, each adding a new dimension of material and form to the composition below it.

The stud top is a cast antique gold sunburst in the daisy-starburst form — radiating pointed petals with granulation surface detail, set with a small ruby at the centre and small peridot accent stones distributed around the perimeter, their green a deliberate foil to the red. From the stud, a short link drops to the centrepiece: a large oval filigree medallion in antique gold scrollwork — its frame formed from curling wire tendrils set with small crystal quartz and peridot accent stones, its centre occupied by a large ruby oval cabochon of deep, saturated red with the characteristic warm glow of fine ruby.
