The Design

Śvetavarṇa — meaning “White Lustre” — is built on a single premise: that the most refined thing that can be done with a natural scallop shell is almost nothing. The shell is real — not cast, not replicated, not resin-filled — a complete fan-ribbed bivalve in cream-white with a warm rose-pink flush concentrated at the lower hinge tip, where the shell’s growth rings converge. Its surface carries the fine parallel ribbing of the actual shell, each ridge a record of the animal’s growth, running from the hinge point outward to the fan edge in clean radiating lines. No two shells are identical in tone, ribbing density, or blush distribution.

The setting is a plain gold bezel that follows the shell’s natural fan outline — a continuous gold wire edge that holds the shell without obscuring it, finishing at a single round bail at the top. The bezel does not frame the shell so much as endorse it: a quiet gold border that says this object is worth keeping, worth wearing, worth a chain. The bezel and bail are made in high-quality brass alloy — anti-allergic and skin-friendly — and finished in 22k Gold Plated. The plated finish is sealed with a protective e-coating for tarnish and wear resistance. Because each shell is a natural object, no two pendants are identical — variations in shell tone, blush depth, ribbing pattern, and size are inherent to the material and are not defects.
